American Federation of Teachers

The Carpet and Rug Institute

In 2009, activists across the US introduced state-level legislation requiring green cleaning in schools. Four states passed laws, and coalitions in many more states made great progress in building support for green clean schools policies. With six states now requiring green cleaning in schools and several more poised for successful advocacy in 2010, green clean schools momentum is sweeping the nation.

Please join Healthy Schools Campaign (HSC) at the second annual Green Clean Schools National Summit to build teams and develop strategies for capitalizing on this national momentum to bring health-promoting green clean schools laws to every state.

The summit will bring together national organizations, corporate leaders, state-level activists and concerned individuals to develop state-specific strategies with lessons learned from previous successful efforts. Summit attendees will have the opportunity to learn about model legislation, see sample materials, discuss responses to common objections and get updates on policy and product development.

Perhaps most importantly, the summit will connect local activists and national organizations to build strong, effective state-level coalitions.
