“All the Food Looks Like Food!” Making Changes in New York City Schools

March 07, 2011 | Written By:

There is so much exciting work for health and wellness going on in schools across the country and I love seeing press coverage highlighting these changes. Our friends in New York City and partners in School Food Focus have been working to implement a great lunch program; a recent story in The New York Times highlights their efforts. It’s worth taking a look.

My favorite quote from the the reporter was “all the food looks like… food!”

I’d like to offer a specific congratulations to Chef Jorge Collazo, the head of the NYC school food program. Last October we highlighted his efforts to bring grass fed beef into the NYC school lunch program. Congratulations to Chef Jorge and the NYC school nutrition team on a great story and an impressive, ongoing effort to bring healthy food to the city’s children.
