AS&U: A Source for Schools to Learn and Grow
April 08, 2015 | Written By: Healthy Schools Campaign
HSC spotlights long-time partner, AS&U, and the valuable resources it provides.
At Healthy Schools Campaign we believe that information is the key to growth. It’s especially important for schools to have access to information about what other schools in the country are doing when it comes to facilities, operations and maintenance. American School & University is an in-depth source for all that information and more. From case studies and how-to articles to awards and webinars, AS&U’s services really are comprehensive. If you’re involved in the planning, design, construction, retrofit, operations, maintenance and management of educational facilities, we recommend bookmarking AS&U’s website, checking out their webinars and subscribing to their magazine or e-newsletters.
The Green Cleaning Award
Our partnership with American School & University began eight years ago with the introduction of the annual Green Cleaning Award for Schools & Universities. Together with AS&U and Steve Ashkin, we recognize outstanding achievement in green cleaning by schools with this one-of-a-kind award. “The program has helped raise the awareness of green cleaning and sustainability initiatives at schools and universities nationwide,” says Joe Agron, editor in chief and associate publisher at AS&U. “Each year, the application pool gets more sophisticated and innovative in their approach to green cleaning.”
The State of Educational Facilities and Construction Procurement, an upcoming one-hour, free webinar from AS&U, covers the challenges currently faced by schools in design, construction, maintenance, security, funding and operations of education facilities. “Attendees will learn about the impact of enrollment on school and college infrastructure; where dollars are being allocated; evolving education facility needs and the primary reasons behind these needs; construction funding status and opportunities; innovative trends in construction procurement and more,” says Agron. The webinar will also discuss the growing use of sustainability in all of these practices. It will be live April 9, 2015 at 2 p.m. Register here.
Our Green Cleaning Award application for 2015 will be available soon. You can sign up to be one of the first to know when it’s released.
