May 29, 2009
This post is part of our Friday-morning series on fun, healthy recipes. Check out other recipe posts here.
We’ve enjoyed news about the recent research showing that kids prefer vegetables with fun names. What about fun colors? This smoothie recipe, perfect for breakfast or an afternoon snack on the hot summer days ahead, is easy to modify based on kids’ favorite colors or the fruit that happens to be in season. Toss in a handful of blueberries to make it purple, or some strawberries to make it pink. Mixing up the fruit is a tasty, healthy (and fun) way to get a variety of nutrients.
