Green Cleaning Spotlight: Montgomery County Public Schools, Rockville, Md.
May 27, 2010
Congratulations to Montgomery County Public Schools (MPCS)!
In the Green Cleaning Awards
sponsored by HSC, the Green Cleaning Network and American School & University
magazine, MPCS earned the School District Grand Award for green cleaning.
In 1997, MPCS began going green by switching from an oil-based floor finish to a water-based finish. Since then, they've tested, selected and used only the highest-quality cleaning products. Energy-efficient scrubbers use only clean water to capture dust particles from hard floor surfaces, eliminating mops and buckets. High-speed burnishers replaced buffers that were more likely to spread dirt particles, and backpack vacuums increased productivity while cutting down on dust with a four-stage filtration system.
