Healthy Schools Building Week – Join Us

Today is the beginning of Healthy Schools Building Week so we hope you'll be able to take a moment to consider your school as well as the school of the future.
Our friends at the Council of Educational Facility Planners International sponsor an exciting school design competition that offers an opportunity to illustrate the creativity that students bring to the planning and design process. The competition highlights the importance of well-planned, high performance, healthy, safe and sustainable schools that foster student achievement and enhance community vitality.
The annual competition challenges student teams to design their schools to enhance learning, conserve resources, be environmentally responsive and engage the surrounding community. The multi-disciplinary solution requires students to follow a planning process from the concept phase to completion of the project, with thorough documentation. The students will present their project to a jury for review.

And if you want to get more involved, join the Collaborative for High Performance Schools (CHPS) TODAY for a free introduction to the Operations Report Card (ORC), a new program that helps existing schools improve their building performance. The ORC – a low-cost online program designed for use both district-wide and in individual schools – benchmarks, analyses and recommends improvements in school indoor air quality, thermal comfort, visual comfort, acoustics, and energy efficiency. A representative from the ORC pilot program will also describe their experience with the program first-hand. The one-hour webinar begins at 11:30 AM PDT, 2:30 PM EDT.
