Don’t miss this experience!
In less than two weeks, student chefs from across Chicago will come together and share their visions for transforming school lunch at our annual Cooking up Change healthy cooking contest and fundraiser. It will be a night to remember, not only for the teams of student chefs who will be debuting their imaginative designs on healthy and delicious school lunches, but also for the guests in attendance.
Here are a few of the many reasons you should join us for this big night:
Meet the rising chefs of our city. The students who compete in Cooking up Change are part of top-notch culinary programs at Chicago Public Schools. Some are set on opening their own catering businesses or restaurants (we even met one student who wants to be a yacht chef!). You’ll be miles ahead of other tastemakers by meeting these students and tasting their unique creations before they get big.
Try a bite or two or ten. Students are whipping up their signature dishes and presenting them to a panel of judges. They’re also be sharing them with guests! Sample the incredible dishes that students have worked so hard to craft.
Win something memorable. Whether it’s a coveted silent auction prize or an item in our grand raffle, there’s nothing like the thrill of victory. Plus, every purchase supports Healthy Schools Campaign. From nights on the town at Chicago’s hottest restaurants to a one-of-a-kind diamond slice necklace, there’s something to win for everyone. View the Grand Raffle prizes and purchase tickets.
Raise a glass and enjoy the skyline. Bridgeport Art Center is a stunning venue with an incredible view of the city lights. You can toast the achievements of students, mingle and meet new people, and be part of the buzz that makes Cooking up Change so special. Don’t forget the photobooth!
Witness the winning moment. Cooking up Change is the culmination of weeks of students preparing, taste testing, tweaking and re-tweaking their recipes. Their pride and enthusiasm for what they’ve accomplished radiates throughout the room. Be part of the experience when the winning chefs hear their names announced — it’s something you won’t soon forget, and something you don’t want to miss.
Be part of change. Cooking up Change is a fun and exciting way to support the simple and commonsense notion that healthy students are better learners, and to advocate for healthier and better tasting school meals. It’s not every day that a meal makes a difference — but if it can, shouldn’t you be there?
