Recipe Friday: The Easiest Mango Fruit Roll-Ups!

Check out our favorite healthy take on an old childhood snack.

Sometimes at HSC, we look back on our own school lunches (and we’re not always proud of everything). One memory that sticks with me, personally, is bartering — my classmates swapping the hot-ticket items in their lunches and turning the cafeteria into a trading post. Fruit Roll-Ups, colorful and sticky-sweet, were often the highest in demand, and seeing them on the supermarket shelves today still creates for me a very specific sense of time and place.

Now that we’re older and have a much greater understanding of the relationship between food and health (and want to set a positive example for the next generation), we’re always on the lookout for snacks that can satisfy our nostalgic sweet tooth without high-fructose corn syrup or artificial flavorings.

Many food bloggers have taken to creating delicious, all-natural versions of fruit leather and Fruit Roll-Ups. One of our favorite takes comes from Kelly Senyei at Just a Taste, who created these healthy, yummy snacks using just one all-natural ingredient. No added sugars, no artificial fruit flavors, just real, colorful, summery goodness. Pack some of these, and everyone will want to trade with you at lunch.
