By Rochelle Davis, President and CEO, Healthy Schools Campaign

It is with great sadness that we received today’s news of the death of Sue Gin. The founder and CEO of Chicago-based Flying Food Group, Ms. Gin was a philanthropist, entrepreneur and role model for all of us. I had the opportunity to work closely with Ms. Gin this summer as she chaired our Change for Good luncheon. She was full of energy, ideas and strong opinions and it was a pleasure to work side by side with her. Ms. Gin also served on Healthy Schools Campaign’s Civic and Business Advisory Committee.

Sue Gin showed her dedication to the health and success of children through her tireless volunteer work and her philanthropy through The William G. McGowan Charitable Fund, a foundation dedicated to the vision and leadership of her late husband.

Chicago lost a wonderful, spirited and courageous leader today. The entire Healthy Schools Campaign community mourns her loss and we send our condolences to Ms. Gin’s family, friends and colleagues.
