While finding green products used to be a challenge, now we’re fortunate to have thousands of them on the market. Over the years, HSC has seen changes in the ecolabel marketplace, and they’ve evolved into an important strategy to help schools purchase green products. In our Quick + Easy Guide to Green Cleaning in Schools, we recommend using ecolabels to simplify the purchasing process.
Our new challenge? It can be difficult to tell which ecolabels and standards are authentic and appropriate.
Recently, the US EPA announced the publication of Draft Guidelines for Product Environmental Performance Standards and Ecolabels for Voluntary Use in Federal Procurement. While the guidelines are designed to help federal purchasers, they may also help other public sector and private sector markets that rely on ecolabels and standards to make decisions.
To help determine next steps, the EPA is seeking public comment on the draft guidelines and a potential approach to assessing standards and ecolabels.
This one-hour webinar will be delivered by Alison Kinn Bennett, EPA Senior Advisor, who will provide an overview of the draft guidelines. Participants will then be able to ask live questions.
Join us, especially if you rely on ecolabels and standards, as a purchaser, manufacturer, product distributor, product user or advocate.
For more information, read the Federal Register Notice, Q&As and draft guidelines.
