At this forum, HSC’s staff and state and local leaders shared successful models for addressing student mental health. Leaders from the U.S. Surgeon General’s office and the U.S. Department of Education were on hand to respond and share what their agencies are doing to address student mental health.
December 9, 2021 | The Future of School Food
HSC brought together leaders to highlight what’s next for school food and what is at stake in the coming year as the focus in Congress turns to the school meal program. This Change for Good event also featured student chefs who participated in the Cooking up Change Showcase. Guests saw student-designed recipes from across the country and heard student priorities for school food.
July 9, 2021 | A National Priority: Investing in Public School Infrastructure
This forum was hosted by HSC in partnership with the Center for Green Schools. U.S. Senator Dick Durbin was the featured speaker, and he was joined by local and national leaders to discuss why school grounds are an essential part of school infrastructure spending.
May 18, 2021 | Ensuring Equity in COVID-19 Health and Education Policy
This event focused on equity in COVID-19 health and education policy. Special guests included Dr. Bechara Choucair, White House vaccinations coordinator, and Mayra Alvarez, president of The Children’s Partnership and member of the Biden-Harris COVID-19 Health Equity Task Force.
