New federal guidance encourages states to expand and enhance their school Medicaid programs in order to maximize funding for school health services — and offers states options for doing so.
Join Healthy Schools Campaign on Oct. 4 from 1 to 2 p.m (CT) for a look at the steps Illinois took to expand its school Medicaid program beyond services included in Individualized Education Plans (IEPs), and how Illinois’ policy changes can serve as a model for other states seeking to leverage Medicaid funding.
The webinar will include a facilitated discussion with three Illinois school districts on their initial steps to improve and expand their Medicaid programs, what comes next for Illinois, and lessons other states can learn from Illinois’ experience.
Attendees will have the opportunity to hear directly from school district employees on:
• Initial steps taken to prepare for the expansion, including how school districts are handling staff training, medical necessity documentation and parental consent
• Challenges, opportunities and benefits of expansion
• Advice for other districts that are considering expanding Medicaid billing
