Who are you?
I’m the Creative Director here at Healthy Schools Campaign. I design print and web communications, event materials, and create brand identities for new and existing programs. There is also a lot of design strategy involved in my work because we have so many programs and events that each need a different type of identity. I try to create visuals that set us apart while remaining flexible.
What makes your job great?
I’m so fortunate to have a job where I get to combine my two passions: design and children’s health!
When did you come to HSC?
I came to Healthy Schools Campaign in April 2011 after designing materials for children and families faced with specific medical conditions, illnesses and treatment plans.
Why did you join HSC?
I’ve always been working on wellness, nutrition, and children’s health, so this was the perfect place for me to land. HSC had never had a designer on staff before, so there was a need to streamline their look and create consistent brand identities. I’m so glad I get to be the person to do it!
Where does your motivation come from?
Keeping up with my own health and wellness is so important for me to be able to function daily! If I ate junk food for lunch, I wouldn’t be ready to work the rest of the day—so why do we expect students to be ready to learn? If kids are given the opportunity to learn about exercise and nutrition, they’ll have the tools to create a healthy lifestyle.
