Who are you?

I am the Development Manager for Healthy Schools Campaign (HSC). I have been a fundraising professional for a couple of years and have worked for a few direct-service and cultural Chicago-based NGOs. As a volunteer, I chair Chicago Foundation for Women’s Young Women’s Giving Council, where I get to serve women and girls in the region through a grant-making process.

What makes your job great?

I am excited to support the development team and engage HSC’s incredible donors on the corporate and individual giving side. HSC works at the ground level to empower the community around healthy school environments. I am eager to learn about HSC’s community organizing and advocacy work at the state and national levels.

When did you come to Healthy Schools Campaign?

I joined HSC in July 2019.

Why did you join Healthy Schools Campaign?

Healthy Schools Campaign is passionate about connecting community to grassroots advocacy by engaging many different kinds of stakeholders. I’m looking forward to working with such a dynamic team and lending my expertise as a fundraiser to the organization.

Where does your motivation come from?

As a first-generation Indian-American, my passion and motivation to work in social justice spaces have always been shaped by my experiences and the experiences of others. My parents always taught me to prioritize the most vulnerable people in our society through their words and actions. I knew I wanted a career that would allow me to mobilize people through philanthropy, and I feel confident I can do that with HSC.
